On August 7th, Pratt Center hosted our third free training on how to use the Neighborhood Data Portal (NDP), our free online mapping tool. Over 100 participants representing community-based organizations and non-profits followed along on their laptops as our data and mapping specialist Sadra Shahab covered the fundamentals of using the NDP and introduced its broad range of demographic, land use, and environmental datasets. Since the training, we have received numerous testimonials from participating organizations about how they have already been able to apply NDP productively to their work.
As part of Pratt Center’s broader “Democratizing Data” initiative, we are excited to expand our data training services to build the capacity of small organizations to access, collect, package, and convey data to decision-makers, funders, and other audiences. As part of this initiative, we are offering a “deeper dive” NDP training on November 13, 2019 that will use case studies to demonstrate how the tool can tell compelling stories about the conditions and characteristics of NYC’s neighborhoods.
